May 12, 2010: Sectional Tennis

Long day, sectional tennis tournament. I didn’t get home until after 5:00PM. The rain came in earlier than expected. We started at Troy and because of the rain we ended up at Dayton Center Courts. The guys did pretty well. Everyone but Travis got into the second round, Muhamed and Jair even got to the third round.

May 11, 2010: Sectional Prelims

Rainy start, beautiful ending to the day. Nice and sunny. We will just have to wait and see how it is tomorrow for the tennis sectional. Hopefully it won’t be another cold windy day like GWOC.

The guys did okay in the prelim matches. Seth and Patrick won easily again versus Fairborn. Ryan lost concentration and went three sets with the guy from Northmont. It will be interesting to see how long we last at the sectional. We will last at least into the afternoon since Patrick has the AP test in the morning and won’t get there until after 12:00.

May 10, 2010: Last Practice

Nice day, quiet at work other than finding out my evaluation isn’t good because Kevin did it and he is not a supervisor. So, someone who knows absolutely nothing about what I am doing is supposed to evaluate me. No wonder education is is such a state.

Had my last practice for this tennis season, sectionals start tomorrow. Evan didn’t show, so I had to play to keep the numbers even. Still got it… somewhat.

Worked the dulcimer a little for the first time in a while. Timing is the key.

Had the GWOC tennis awards meeting. Springboro wasn’t there again. His constant changing of the line-up hurt him, with no real record to speak of we couldn’t properly recognize his kids. I ended up as co-coach of the year since my team won the silver flight and Sean’s team made the gold flight.

May 9, 2010: Mother’s Day/Birthday

Made Judy breakfast for Mother’s Day.

Went for a hike, the weather is sure a bunch better than yesterday.

Judy, Pat, Teresa, Ed, and I had lunch with Mom for Mother’s Day. Judy’s Mom and Dad are coming over later for spaghetti dinner. It’s Judy’s Dad’s eighty-second birthday.

May 8, 2010: We’re #1 or Maybe 9

Cold windy day fot the GWOC tennis tournament.

They guys did pretty well they ended in a tie with Trotwood for first place in the Silver Flight. We ended with one first one third and two fourths. We were the most consistent team if nothing else. Now if we could do anything against the eight teams in the gold flight…

The guys wanted to know if they were the best Xenia tennis team ever. I told them Xenia has had some good teams in the past, but they were the best team I ever coached, that seemed to make them happy.
