April 12, 2010: Surgery Successful

Mom’s surgery was successful. She says she is really thinking clearly. The thing I noticed after the surgery, this might be due to some of the drugs, she was a real chatty Cathy. I never heard her talk so much.

Kevin took the team, he had a successful tennis coaching debut. They beat Yellow Springs 4-1. I am sure he wants to make this his last tennis coaching appearance.

April 11, 2010: She’s Back

Beautiful day, went hiking with Pat in the morning. Pleasant, very pleasant.

Spent a good part of the day washing windows and cleaning screens. Let the beautiful day in.

Judy got home around 6:00. She had a good time visiting the guys out west, but I think she is glad to be home.

April 10, 2010: First Cut of the Year

The weather has come back to nice again. It was a little cool in the morning. May have been some frost. Hope it didn’t get any of the apple trees.

Greg and I hiked this morning at the Narrows. Was really nice. Sow some bard owls. Thought it was a little late for them to still be up, but they were squawking away at each other. Who cooks for you.

Cut the grass this afternoon, first one. The back was pretty thick from the “extra” fertilizer. The grass, in general, doesn’t look real good. I hope the fertilizer people Judy hired can turn it around.

Worked the dulcimer some more with the new lesson I for from Fish. It helped with strums and improvisation. I may have another song on my brain, Ole Joe Clark, at least pretty close.

April 9, 2010: Goodbye Daisy…

The time finally came, Daisy couldn’t get

Daisy

herself up anymore, wasn’t eating, and barely drinking. No way for a dog of her energy, vitality, and attitude to live. I will think of you fondly on my hikes and any time I hear a noise in the house. Goodbye Daisy…

April 8, 2010: Windy and Cold

Never heard the big storm they were talking about overnight, but they were right on about the day. It was rainy in the morning with the temperature dropping during the day. The rain quit by noon as they projected and then in got cold. With the wind and the lower temperatures it was not very comfortable.

The tennis was not as good as I hoped versus Beavercreek. Travis stayed with his guy for most of the first set, but then he couldn’t break him. Patrick and Seth got the first set, but they figured them out and won the next two sets handily. Maybe I can get through to the guys that what Beavercreek has is also possible for them.

I was hoping Daisy might make it until Judy got back, but she is getting so weak. I am not sure it makes sense to make her go on.
