April 7, 2010: The Rain Is Coming?

The weatherman is telling us that sometime tonight the rain, some of it possibly severe, will come as well as cooler weather. The day was pretty windy, but the temperature stayed in the 70’s.

Fast day at work. Kevin and I got the banners put up in the baseball outfield. They look pretty good, but they are a little small for the distance to be easily read.

The wind is blowing pretty good for the tennis match. Quite a bit, but not as bad as yesterday in Sidney. The kids did well today they won 5-0, but the match was most closer than it appears. Two and three were one game per set f going either way and the doubles started off slowly, but put it together for easier second sets.

Daisy is slowing down even more. I am going to have to make the tuff decision soon.

April 6, 2010: Another Beautiful Day

Another beautiful day, the tougher weather is on the way, but I will take it. Wish I had another day off.

Came home for lunch so I could take Daisy outside for a little while since I was going to be very late getting home tonight due to tennis. Daisy is getting weaker by the day. I wish she would make it easy on me, but I probably need to have her put down soon.

The guys won their first match tonight versus Sidney. It was closer than I had hoped we won 3-2. Winning at 3, 4, and 5. I was hoping 1 and 2 would get one today, but it wasn’t in the cards. Second doubles made it exciting winning in three. They won the second set in a tiebreaker than got behind 4-1 before winning the third set 6-4.

The women’s NCAA National Championships started out crazy UConn only scored 12 points in the first half, to be behind by eight at the break. Then they woke up.

April 5, 2010: Last Spring Break Day

Another warm beautiful day. Tennis practice went pretty much as always. Not much intensity. Tomorrow starts the match marathon. We will see how many we get in.

Hiked at the Narrows, a lot of people. Very peaceful and nice though.

Worked on the dulcimer some more. Made a noter, since that is the way the one lady is pushing it. I guess I come somewhere in between. I do like the different tunings. It give some of the songs a real soulful sound.

Watched the NCAA final sort of. I was tired at half time so I decided to go in the bedroom and put on the TV and watch in there…well it almost worked. I must have fallen asleep almost immediately to wake up to hear, The shot is up, no good. Duke wins.” I guess I missed a pretty good half. Butler only lost by 2.

April 4, 2010: Easter

Another beautiful day, unfortunately with all of the Easter festivities, no hike.

Went to Pat’s for a brunch. I was sort of surprised the whole Michigan crew, including Lilly, made the trip. Showed Eileen and a number of others how to play the dulcimer. I told them I could have them playing a song on the dulcimer in less than five minutes and I was right. I think they had fun, but didn’t get the impression anyone was going to run out and buy one. They did lke the one I made especially.

Finished up my Easter routine at the Fannin’s they had a full Easter dinner including the ham. Actually pretty tasty.

Spent most of the night catching up on shows and watching some of the Women’s NCAA. Connecticut looks unbeatable.

Pretty quite with Judy in Portland.

April 3, 2010: The New “Hoosier”

Hiked with Greg in the morning at the Narrows. It is really warm. The wind picked up dramatically while we were out . Little limbs getting popped loose. The tree tops were really moving. They said a front was going to move through and the wind got it here in a hurry. It took a while, but a little rain came, but the sky looked like it could be a bad one. This went on for most of the afternoon.

Took the down time to g through a blog on playing the dulcimer. The lady’s site really helped me better understand the various tunings. The tunings can really make a big difference on how a song may sound. I like what she is doing, she is going back to the smiliest versions of songs and tries to make the playing interesting without the use of chords. I like the approach.

Watched the NCAA semifinals. Butler is tough and they gave The big boy Michigan State all they wanted, so much so that they beat them.  The talk continues as Butler being the next Hoosier as in the movie. After watching Duke pound West Virginia I don’t think the new movie will have as happy an ending.
