December 19, 2009: First Snow

Snow is here.  Not much snow, but it is wet so everything is covered. A real winter wonderland. Hopefully it well melt off of the drive so I won’t have to shovel. Glad we are not on the east coast they are getting buried.

Hiked with Greg at the Narrows.  It wasn’t too slippery.  Pretty pleasant. Copper really likes the snow.  He seemed to have  an extra bounce in his step.

Finished putting the bows on the tree, so it’s finished.  Nw tree looks pretty good.  I will have to wait until its dark to see if I like it better with or with out the bows.

Worked on the piano.  Some day it might really sound like something.

December 18, 2009: Break Begins

Gray day, they say we may get the first real snow overnight tonight, maybe two inches. We will see.

Picked up the envelope from my Mom that she wanted sent with the stuff we are sending the boys for Christmas.  She received her emergency button.  She seems pleased with it.  Says she doesn’t want to wear it in the shower.  I tried to suggest the shower is where a lot off accidents happen. She says she has a shower mat.

Mom also wants a key safe for the hose.  I told her I would try to find on that fits on the door frame. Hopefully I can still find one.

Hiked today it was pretty decent. It was in the mid to upper thirties, might have even been in the forty’s. Met a guy on the trail that thought he knew me.  Never saw him before, that I can remember. He was interesting to talk to, but was a little strange.

They ruled on my ability to get to my photography website at school.  Said it had no educational value and if i wanted to show the kids my stuff I should bring in a portfolio.  I just don’t get them.

Put the ornaments on the tree.  Hopefully tomorrow I will get the bows on and it will be finished.  Looking good.

December 17, 2009: Winter Break Is Almost Here

Nice day today, in the forty’s in the afternoon. Nice sunshine.

Should have bought gas this morning, it went from$2.39 to $2.59.

I am working the wrestling quad tonight.  “Wraslin'” should be fun.

It was funny, I wandered into the main office and the head secretary, Marilyn had just finished trimming Kevin’s flat top.  I guess the barber missed a few hairs.  Marilyn said I needed a trim, but she needed a comb, but I never carry one.  Would have been interesting to see what she would have done if I had one.

One of my tennis players emailed me to see if I was coaching tennis this spring.  He had heard someone else was going to do it.  I am not sure how the rumor got started, but they are stuck with me.

Got a weight lifting program set up for one of my tennis players, Richard, and got him started.  He really wants to do well this year, hope it all works out.

Picked up some new books at the library today another Clive Cussler, a James Patterson, and a book about Lincoln.  Hopefully the are good ones.

Still listening to the book about the Pacific war.  Amazing how the Japanese didn’t want to realistically asses their position as the war was winding down.

December 16, 2009: Off to the Doctors

Bit of a long morning. Went to the Doctors for my twice a year fasting blood test.  For some reason the office lost my appointment, but they took me in anyway.  Unfortunately, they were running behind and I did not help the situation.

Barry was in good spirits.  He gave me a hard time about the weight I gained. I know… I know.  Sounds like he has a big Christmas Eve at his house.  He invited us over.  I guess he invites all of the 140 foster children they must of had over the years to his house.  Guess its a lot of fun, but tons of people.

Nice day outside. A little cool it was in the teens to start the day.  Always like the sun in the winter.

Worked out before I went to the Doctors.  Rode the exercise bike for an hour and then hit the weights.

Went to MImi’s for dinner at the Greene so we could see some of the kids from Mad River Schools sing Christmas carols.  Service was kind of so so, food was not as good as usual. Kids were fun.

Watching Wright State play Mississippi State.  WSU needs to find a way to deal with MSU’s athleticism or it will be a long night.

December 15, 2009: Back to Work

The school gave me a copy of CS 4 to put on my Mac.  Should be interesting. it is everything.

Got it installed. Now on to exploring all of what it can do.

Kind of a gray day. the exceptional weather is gone.

Sea of Thunder talked about the loyalty and mindset of the Japanese Naval officer,  They felt it was their duty to go down with their ship.  It was a waste of manpower and the leadership came to recognize it.  The interesting piece was the Captain was originally supposed to get the picture of the Emperor from his quarters and place it in a lifeboat and then go down with the ship.

Judy got her new sewing machine.  Looks like it can do everything except the dishes!
