No work at school today.  One of my trade days for days in June.

Got out and hiked this morning.  What started out as a a rather gray day has become rather sunny and nice.  The car thermometer showed over 50 degrees.  Quite nice compared to the teen days last week.

Getting a number of things done today.  Put the silicone on the shower to stop the leaking between the tiles.  This should be a reasonable stop gap until I can redo the shower this summer.

Changed out the water filters in the basement.  Maybe I have the combination now… turn off the near red knob, then open the red knob, release the softener, and then the other red knob. Maybe this is right, it always seems a mystery.

Put the new Christmas tree up… big.  It should be a lot easier next since I won’t have to open all the branches.  Now the tree is up all I have to do is get the ornaments on it.

Wet, wet, wet. Guess it will be an inside day today.  Judy showed me a nice article about Tom Lasley, the soon to be retired dean of the School of Education, University of Dayton.

Looks like a day to workout inside, no hike.  Lookout exercise bike! Got the bike for 16.4 miles and then hit the weights for awhile.  Might get down that thirty pounds yet.

Might have got another bug.  This has been a strange year end for sickness.

Started listening to the book Sea of Thunder by Evan Thomas.  Its about the sea war in the South Pacific of World War II particularly the Battle of Leyte Gulf.  It is starting off talking about the beginning of the war and how the east and west viewed each other.  Pretty interesting to start, will see.

Bit of a long day. Spent it working the Xenia  Invitational Wrestling Tournament on the new computer wrestling program. A few glitches, but easier to use than the last one.  Xenia ended up fourth.  Some real intense coaches.

Got there around 7:30 AM, ended up home around 6:00 PM.  Was kind of funny, that was about my usual workday.  Sure like my new 7:30 to 3:30 schedule.

Video conferenced with Tim for quite a while he showed me some of his night photos of Portland.  Because of the long exposures you could see the streaks of airplanes.

We also played with the Mac trying to get it to recognize my voice.  If you get it to work well it can even tell you jokes,  Got it to work a little.  I think voice recognition at this level has a ways to go yet.

Finished listening to the book Wild Trees by Richard Preston.  Interesting book about tree canopies. The people in the book explored the canopies of redwood and sequoia trees mostly.  Was interesting listening about people climbing up to over three hundred feet and exploring and staying over night. They also did what they called “skywalking,” walking from tree to tree by traversing the branches.
