June 1, 2010: Trying to Get The Car Fixed

Strange day at work. One lady complained on an on about her son’s name being spelled incorrectly. If you give your kids unusual names you are asking for it. Nobody misspells Joe.

Took the truck in to get the wheel bearing changed. They found out they couldn’t do it in the shop they would have to send it out meaning it will take two days. Will need to see if there is a better alternative. Called Ed to see if he had any better ideas.

Harry Potter review continues. We are up to Goblet of Fire.

May 31, 2010: Wondering Around

Got my hike in this morning.

Judy and I decided to take a drive this afternoon. We went to Richmond for lunch. We drove the back way there and back. Went through Lewisberg on the way home . Tried to see Pam and Jack’s old place. Couldn’t really find it. Must have missed. Things have really changed.

Continued on our Harry Potter Review. Funny how they even miss stuff. The ties on Slytherin folks were blue instead of green.

May 30, 2010: Harry Potter Review

Went to church and then off to the Narrows for a hike. Really summer like.

Quiet day, not much going on.

Judy and I started a Harry Potter review. We decided to watch all of the Harry Potter movies from the beginning. There is always something you missed.

May 29, 2010: Native American Flutes

Quiet day, still more summer like than spring.

Worked up a pretty good sweat hiking at the Narrows. Pretty much took the rest of the day off. It was nice hanging on the deck. Looked into the Native American Flute. Might be my next adventure.

Watched the US Men’s National Soccer team play Turkey and that is what they looked like in the first half. The second half was a complete different story. A new guy, by my notion, Jose Torres came in the midfield. I believe he was snubbed by the Mexican National team, but also qualified to play for the U.S. Wow, he changed the game around. Mexico missed a solid one here. Great presence and individual skill. If the U.S doesn’t play him a lot I think it is a mistake. Some great combination work got the US a 2-1 win after being down 1-0 in the first half. If Dempsey wasn’t such a lazy son-of-gun who knows what is possible.

Watched The Spy Next Door, a Jackie Chen movie, with Judy, cute real cute. Jackie is obviously not doing all his stunts anymore.

May 28, 2010: Off to the Picnic

Nice day for the school picnic. Things started out a little hairy. I had checked the day before to make sure Rick had got the propane ordered, no problem, but when it arrived it was found there was no hose to hook it to the grill. Rick and I went over to the stadium to see if we could find it, no luck. A call had been made to get a service guy to come out, hoping he could get it working. It would be awhile until he got there because he was on a service call. On that paid, not a good will call like ours.

In the mean time Kevin and I headed out to scrounge up grills. We went to his house and got his and Ed’s next door. I guess while we were gone Ted was going nuts blaming people rather than trying to solve the problem like we were. as it turns out the service guy got there and got the grill up and running in less than ten minutes. Using that grill, plus the other two and everything went off swimmingly. I grilled a bunch of hamburgers and singed the hair on my arm. What a treat.

Pat told me a little more about the “speech”. He was pretty sure it was Patrick who wrote the speech since one of the line in the speech required a response from the audience and Patrick got up and did it. Besides the kid who did the speech didn’t have the imagination necessary to write it himself.

Got in a hike, pretty warm. There were kids playing in the river by the rope.
