June 11, 2010: Off to the Northeast

Still hot and sticky. Got in a hike at the Narrows before we headed on our trip.

Got started in the afternoon. Headed straight for Mohican State Park as the first destination. Mohican gives you the general feel of being in south eastern Ohio. Maybe a little more rolling and a little less steep, but pretty similar.

Judy called Angelwoods Hideaway B & B to set up a two of the three nights we will be out. Interesting place, proprietors  Victoria and John have a nice thing going. They do a lot of things besides just rooms. They have meeting space, they can handle your horse and are pet friendly. Nice place to stay. Not sure if we would ever go back since I think we saw all we wanted to see while we were there.

June 10, 2010: End is Near

Last day of work this week. Not a lot going on today.

The head service guy called, wants me to prove I could get the work done for the price I said. I can’t find the quote. We will see what his response when John Voss gets his letter.

Judy and me are going to head to Amish country in northeastern Ohio on Kevin’s recomendation. Should be interesting.

Did get a hike in at the Narrows. There was a little rumble of thunder and rain, but basically just a warm hike.

June 9, 2010: Truck Is Done

Took forever for the rain to stop. Late afternoon the sun finally came through.

Fiddled with the label printer on Kevin’s computer. Gave up on getting it to work on mine. It worked, not exactly sure how or why, but the labels are printed.

My car is finally done so I went home and took Judy to lunch and then picked up the truck. It sounds great, now I just have to figure out how much noise to make.

June 8, 2010: Quick Start… Starts

Started out as a nice morning and got cloudier as the day went on until we got some rain in the evening. Didn’t want to get wet so no hike.

Had the first quick start tennis today. Glad I don’t coach girls. There were four there today. I am not sure they really wanted to be there. Not much real effort. The guys were okay, felt like we made some progress. Did hit a little with Evan so I got some exercise.

Watched Spain destroy Poland 6-0. Obviously no defense played by the Poles. spain could be that good. Not sure how the U.S. beat them in the confederations cup.

June 7, 2010: Boycott Voss

Beautiful morning, took the truck over to the Toyota place to get the wheel bearing worked on. Walked home from there. Wasn’t too bad only took about an hour. That was the best part of the experience. Got a call later saying that he quoted wrong, the cost would be over $600. I don’t even really know how much over $600, just kind of blanked out at that point.

First he said he would give me 10% off. I said he needed to go up the food chain because this does not work. He finally came up with a price of somewhere north of $500. I just gave up because I was just tired of the whole process.

Then I made the mistake of asking him about the engine light issue. He said it was a catalytic converter problem, $2600 to fix that. We both agreed there are less expensive options. But they have a $90 look and see fee, which they charge if you do not decide to let them do the work. That seems like extortion to me. Well it not only seems that way it is.  The fee does not just apply to the whole invoice , as the paper I signed said, it is each job. He is going to be nice and only charge me half the fee.

I started a letter to John Voss to let him know my dissatisfaction. When this ends I will get it in the mail.
